Sturgeon Creek Marker, S-60
A branch of the Nottoway, named for the huge fish once caught in it. William Byrd, returning from the expedition to survey the Virginia-North Carolina boundary line, camped on this stream in November, 1729.

Physical Description of Location: Warfield, VA 23889. Located on Boydton Plank Road (Hwy 1), 0.25 miles northeast of the intersection of Boydton Plank Road (Hwy 1) and Co. Road 642. Marker is on the left when traveling northeast on Boydton Plank Road (Hwy 1).
