Roanoke County Marker, Z-105
Formed in 1838 from Botetourt and Montgomery, and probably named for the Roanoke River. General Andrew Lewis lived here. The city of Roanoke is known as the Magic City of the South.

Geographic Location: Montgomery County
Physical Description of Location: US 11 and 460, about 1 mile south of intersection with W River Road, Elliston-Lafayette, VA 24153. Marker is on right just after crossing bridge, when traveling south on US 11.
