Port Walthall, which stood on the banks of the Appomattox River several miles to the south, was a major shipping and passenger embarkation point prior to the Civil War. The railroad tracks leading to the port were melted down to manufacture Confederate cannon.

Physical Description of Location: Bermuda, VA 23836. Located on E. Hundred Road (Rt. 10), 0.75 miles southeast of the intersection of E. Hundred Road (Rt. 10) and I-295. Marker is on the left when traveling southeast on E. Hundred Road (Rt. 10).
