Mecklenburg County Marker, Z-38
Formed in 1764 from Lunenburg, and named for Princess Charlotte, of Mecklenburg-Strelitz, queen of George III. A small army under the command of rebel Nathaniel Bacon destroyed the town of the Occaneechee Indians near Clarksville in 1676.

Physical Description of Location: Brodnax, VA 23920. Located on Piney Pond Road (Hwy 58), 0.25 miles west of the intersection of Piney Pond Road (Hwy 58) and Co. Road 657. Marker is on the left when traveling west on Piney Pond Road (Hwy 58).
