Formed in 1792 from Russell, and named for Henry (Light-Horse Harry) Lee, Revolutionary soldier and Governor of Virginia 1791-94. Daniel Boone's son was killed by Indians here.

Physical Description of Location: Blackwater, VA 24221. Located on Trail of the Lonesome Pine (Rt. 70), 1.75 miles south of the junction of Trail of the Lonesome Pine (Rt. 70) and State Road 610. Marker is on the left when traveling south on Trail of the Lonesome Pine (Rt. 70).
