Donelson’s Indian Line Marker, KA-8
John Donelson's line, surveyed after the treaty of Lochaber with the Indians, 1770, crossed the road here. This line separated Indian territory from land open to settlement. Violations of the line by settlers contributed to Dunmore's War, 1774.

Physical Description of Location: Big Stone Gap, VA 24219. Located on Orby Cantrell Hwy (Hwy 23), 2.25 miles southwest of the junction of Orby Cantrell Hwy (Hwy 23) and State Route 668. Marker is on the left when traveling southwest on Orby Cantrell Hwy (Hwy 23).
